Family
The pop singer and actress Lindsay Morgan Lohan (born Lindsay Dee Lohan) was born on July 2, 1986) in the Bronx and grew up in Long Island. The change of name from Dee to Morgan was made because Morgan sounded more "professional" to her. She is Irish-Italian and grew up as a Catholic. She is the eldest of four children. Her two brothers and sister have worked as models and have had minor acting roles.
Her mother (Dina) once worked as a Rockette at Radio City Music Hall before becoming a Wall street analyst and later took on the role of being Lindsay's manager. Her father (Michael) inherited a pasta business which he later sold, moving on to trade futures in New York and then to raise funds for and develop studios and independent Hollywood productions.
Her father has reportedly spent time in jail for securities fraud and unlicensed driving, and has also been convicted od assault against his brother-in-law in one incident and against a New Yok City sanitation employee and an Ohio woman in others. Alcohol abuse and perhaps drug usage may have played a role in all this.
In August 2007, her parents divorce proceedings were finalized.
Acting and Modeling Career
Starting her career with a little work for Ford Models at age 3, Lindsay was a fashion model in TV commercials and magazine ads. She was in 100 or more different print advertisements for Toys R Us, modeled for Abercrombie Kids and Calvin Klein and appeared in the magazines Elle, Vogue, Blenda in Japan, Bliss in the UK, and others. Persistence paid off when seeking work in television. She appeared in over sixty Duncan Hines commercials and with Bill Cosby in a Jell-O spot.
Lindsay Lohan acted in the soap opera Another World at age ten and was in her first motion picture at age eleven playing identical twins in The Parent Trap. Later in life, leading roles in such films as Mean Girls (2004), Herbie: Fully Loaded (2005), Freaky Friday, and Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen (2004) moved her into star status. There were also appearance in Bobby and A Prairie Home Companion.
Drama Queen was a minor commercial success and grossed approximately US$30 million at the box office. Critics did not like it.

In May 2006, the next film in wide release, Just My Luck, grossed US$38 million worldwide and was panned by critics. However, in the next month, A Prairie Home Companion, made $25 million globally in limited release. The independent Emilio Estevez film, Bobby, had both praise and condemnation from critics and grossed only $19 million worldwide. She also appears in the film Chapter 27 (2006).
Music career
The talented Lohan knew she had a great singing voice and jump-started her singing career through her films. The closing theme of Freaky Friday was "Ultimate" which she recorded, and she also sang four songs for the soundtrack of Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen.
The first album, Speak, was produced as part of a five album project and released at the end of 2004, reaching number 4 in the Billboard 200. It was certified Platinum in the first few months of 2005. The album was released with a single, 'Rumor', followed by a second single, 'Over'. A third single, 'First' was heard in her film, Herbie: Fully Loaded.
The second album, A Little More Personal (Raw) was released in December 2005 and made it to number 20 in the Billboard 200 chart. It was certified Gold in January, 2006. The album's first single, "Confessions of a Broken Heart (Daughter to Father)" music video was based on the pain caused by her father to the entire family.
The second single was originally "I Live for the Day" but since it did not do well partly because of lack of support and promotion due to her hectic schedule, Casablanca Records made "If It’s Alright" the second single. However, the release of "If It’s Alright" was preempted by other priorities and was cancelled.

In January, 2007, admitted to the Wonderland Center rehabilitation facility in West Hollywood. Attended Alcoholics Anonymous meetings regularly.
In 2007, twice arrested for possession of cocaine and drunk driving, admitted to rehab programs three times. Sentenced to one day in jail and ten days community service (American Red Cross in Pomona, CA) plus probation for three years plus must complete an eighteen month alcohol education program and do a 3 day coroner program visiting a morgue and talking to victims of drunk drivers plus pay fines. Now admits to being addicted to alcohol and drugs.
